Collaborationland
Street artists usually work alone—and (though under cover) in public. For the exhibition “Unusual Suspects,” up now in Williamsburg, artist Royce Bannon decided to flip things around. So he assembled some friends and told them to work indoors—and in tandem. The process, akin to the Surrealist Exquisite Corpse game, resulted in some curious hybrids—like Katrina, a collaboration of four street artists—El Celso, Deeker, The infinity and The Stikman. She’s got a little bit of Wilma, a little bit of Marge, and a lot of de Kooning. But she’s all woman.
